The Babel line of wearable sculpture has a long history. As a visual artist with a BFA in painting, I believed that Art could be more for the masses and Babel came into being. However, my thesis was "Artist as Shaman" and that also has been an underlying current throughout my professional and personal life. I started the company in 1988. It went through several phases and partners. The designs have changed over time, adapting to current fashions and my own growth. At one point we were selling $10,000 dollars worth a month and all of us madly creating little pieces from our homes. Thanks goodness for all the team work.
With the current trend in beading, I get more of a thrill teaching others how to make the things for themselves than making them for stores. You will still find CDGood originals out there, but they are fewer as I work more on the Kits and the upcoming DVD's, and specially commissioned pieces. Each person puts their own energy and thoughts into what they make and everyone makes the patterns just a little differently.
If you live near Mission, BC, Canada, you will currently find me coaching creative work at Sunheart Counselling Center Monday afternoons for "Soul Speaks", (Creativity Enhancement Drop ins) to find support for your own creative ventures or to get started on some new paths! $65 for the afternoon.
